"Home" of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew
President's Christmas Message
Christmas 2011
Can you believe that another year has come and we are about to celebrate the birth of our Savior. We are well into the Advent season, and Christmas is soon to be upon us!“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests”, Luke 2:14. Imagine hearing and seeing an Angel announcing the birth of Christ to the shepherds, and telling them not to be afraid! I would like to think that I would not be afraid, but I know differently. We sometimes fear what we don’t understand, but they saw, believed and praised God.This Christmas Season and the New Year will be full of hope and we will experience many blessings, I am certain about that. But let’s welcome the good news and spread it throughout the Brotherhood and the good news will come in many forms. I feel that we as Brothers Andrew are a “band of brothers” working together in faith as the men who will shape the future of our ministry to men, young men and boys. We will never forget what the founding men of the Brotherhood did to grow, strengthen and spread our ministry. We are a 128 year old ministry and not an organization.“The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told”, Luke 2:20. Let us see Jesus in one another and praise God for what He has given us throughout the years, and delight in what He has in store for us in 2012.
I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas and a holy and healthy New Year.

Training for Discipleship - A Huge Success
Training for Discipleship a Huge Success
By TC/DH
A special Province IV meeting was the venue for the first of several planned training sessions in disciple making. On Friday, Oct 21 and Saturday, Oct 22, Dick Hooper, Province IV President, lead a group of 22 men in a training program sponsored by “Man in the Mirror”, called “No Man Left Behind”. The training concluded with a service where all agreed to be disciples, “Kingdom Builders” whose purpose is to train others in discipleship. In between the seven course segment, questions sparked healthy spiritual discussions about our life and walk as Brothers Andrew in an age of declining church involvement and commitment.

Our Brothers' Keeper
Texas prison inmates are challenged by Brotherhood speakers
ANGLETON, Texas – 167 inmates at a Texas prison comprise The Episcopal Church’s largest inmate ministry.
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew has been spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ at the Wayne Scott Unit since 1985. The inmate brothers also comprise the nation’s largest Brotherhood chapter. (Kairos prison ministries limit congregation sizes to 42 inmates).
The Brotherhood also stages an annual retreat each summer. This year’s retreat was held Aug. 5-6, 2011 at the prison some 30 miles southeast of Houston. The theme was: Are We Our Brother’s Keeper?
Why do inmates at this particular prison feel so compelled to meet as Brothers in Christ?
One reason surely has to be consistency: since 1985, Brothers at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in nearby Lake Jackson have been meeting week-in-and-week-out with inmates.
A Call To Communicate
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew needs to use every possible way to communicate its message of bringing men and youth to Christ, VP for Public Relations and Communications Jeff Butcher told the 48 men attending the National Council meeting June 23.
“Our growth potential is enormous,” Brother Butcher said. “The Brotherhood represents less than three percent of the male population of The Episcopal Church. We are miniscule in the grand scheme.
